Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) is a constituent college of Sikkim Manipal University that specializes in the fields of STEM education and research. It was established in the year of 1997 as a part of Sikkim Government and Manipal Group's joint venture to establish one of the first public-private partnership (PPP) based institutions in India. The institute, having 8 academic departments and awarding undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees, is one of the institutes for technical education in East and North-East India.
