Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Government of Bangladesh (GOB). It was established by Act No IX of 1990 passed by the Parliament. The main activities are (not limited to)- - Encouraging and providing support for ICT related activities, - Formulating national ICT strategy and policy, - Creating standards and specifications of ICT tools for government organizations according to their necessity, - Working for human resource development in ICT sector. Major achievements are - - Major acts/policies in ICT sector - ICT infrastructure development - TIER-3 National Data Center and DR Center for hosting govt websites, e-mail services and web applications. - 4 TIER Data Center - Established countrywide National Infra Network (Intranet) and connected 18434 government offices throughout the country. - 883 video conferencing system for online meeting - High speed internet service at Moheshkhali Island - High speed internet service at all the unions of Bangladesh - Digital signature - CCA - 3544 computer labs throughout the country - 1013 Union Information Service Center with solar power - 147 Digital Service Center at UNO offices - Standardization of - Bangla keyboard (National/জাতীয় keyboard) - Bangla code characters for Unicode - Bangladesh Standard Code for Information Interchange (BSCII) The major awards won by BCC are - - WITSA award in PPP category for IDEA project - Received UN "WSIS-Award-2020" for contribution in ICT - WSIS-2019 Champion award for InfoSarker-3 project - DCD APAC Winner Award-2019 - eAsia Award-2017 - ASOCIO-Award-2018 - Open Group President Award 2018 - National level Public Administration Award in Technical Category (Institutional) - Several Copyright Certificates
