www.ucy.ac.cyThe School of Engineering at the University of Cyprus was established in 2001 and currently consists of the following departments: 1. Department of Architecture (ARC). 2. Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE). 3. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). 4. Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (MME). The School admitted its inaugural class of undergraduate students in September 2003 and produced its first graduates in June 2007. In Fall 2003 the School launched the first Ph.D. programs and in Fall 2004 the first M.Sc. programs. Currently, all four departments offer undergraduate programs of study as well as postgraduate programs of study. Since its creation, the School of Engineering has expanded rapidly, recruiting new faculty and admitting increasing numbers of undergraduate and graduate students. Throughout this development phase, the School has created the laboratory and information technology infrastructure to support its mission. This expansion included the creation of new postgraduate programs on "Petroleum Engineering" and "Energy Technologies and Sustainable Design," and the establishment of four multi-disciplinary research centers: the Research Center for Sustainable Energy (FOSS), the Research Center for Intelligent Systems and Networks (KIOS), the Nanotechnology Research Center, and the International Water Research Center (NIREAS). The Departments and Centers have enjoyed considerable success in attracting research funding, including competitive grants from the European Research Council, the European Commission, and the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation. Our vision is to continue offering an environment that supports high-quality research, teaching, and scholarship, and to become the one of the leading Engineering Departments in South Eastern Europe, appreciated locally and recognized internationally for high standards in education and research.
