NSW Cyber Security Innovation Node
www.austcyber.comThe NSW Cyber Security Innovation Node was established in July 2019, a partnership between the NSW Government and AustCyber to grow the NSW cyber security sector in alignment with AustCyber’s national mission. The NSW Node is part of AustCyber’s National Network of Nodes, a program that has been designed to foster and accelerate cyber security innovation and capability across the nation. The NSW Cyber Security Innovation Node works closely with NSW Government, industry, government and research institutions in NSW to drive collaboration and create jobs and growth. We work closely with eight NSW universities to grow cyber security R&D collaborations together with industry, including the University of New South Wales, the University of Sydney, the University of Newcastle, Western Sydney University, Charles Sturt University, Macquarie University, UTS and the University of Wollongong. The Node has two primary streams of work, designed to leverage and develop cyber capability in NSW, foster collaboration between cyber security stakeholders, drive innovation, and strengthen economic opportunity for NSW: NSW Cyber Business Innovation – focusing on collaboration across industry, government and research communities to create easily implementable initiatives to assist SMEs to be cyber safe and unlock cyber opportunities. Our activities include industry discovery days, start-up workshops, seminars and networking opportunities. This pillar of work is guided by a high-level industry advisory committee. Workforce Development – focusing on cyber career pathways, supporting NSW schools teaching cyberSTEM subjects, showcasing career pathways through the VET sector, an MoU with TAFE NSW connecting to 8 NSW universities, and a Cyber Security Ambassador program. The bilateral partnership between AustCyber and the NSW Government represents a significant step in continuing to develop a world-leading cyber security sector in NSW that will boost Australia’s economy.
