www.elsametal.comUnlike other recovery processes, Cleanmetals allows for the immediate recovery and valuation of dissolved metals in wastewaters. Cleanmetals technical solution enables players in the metals industry to use an adapted and financially sound way to optimize their tail-end operations by way of a simple “plug-in”. For low-grade wastewaters, Cleanmetals is the only viable technico-economic solution for direct metal production. Its evolutionary – and NOT revolutionary – highly optimized dynamic cementation technology answers a need that is currently not catered for. It is essential to the circular economy. Cleanmetals uses the well-known cementation hydro-metallurgical reaction allowing for a sacrificial metal (Fe) to “loose” ions to the benefit of a dissolved metal, thus transforming the dissolved metal into a “hard” and valuable one. Cleanmetals proprietary technology optimizes this physical reaction in a specifically designed reactor allowing for an optimized dynamic process to achieve in excess of 95% recovery through the reactor. The reactor has a throughput of 25m³/h. The end product is a pure metallic powder that has specific uses but can also be fed back into a smelter or added to concentrates especially those which do not reach the minimum grades. Cleanmetals technology transforms the high portion of the nominal fixed cost of hydrometallurgy into a variable cost (kW/h vs iron). The high nominal energy consumption is replaced by iron shots, function of the quantum of dissolved metals in wastewaters. As an example, the Cleanmetals process transforms a ton of manufactured iron (our consumable) USD 1’000 into a ton of copper USD 8’500 (LME base).
