The New Mexico Procurement Technical Assistance Center (NM PTAC) provides counseling and training to business owners to help them become better vendors to federal, state, local, educational and tribal entities. The NMPTAC was officially established on February 1, 2009. The Cooperative Agreement requires 1:1 matching funds with the federal funding. Since inception of the program, these matching funds have been and continue to be provided by the State of New Mexico. The host institution of PTAC is Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) in Santa Fe, New Mexico and the host organization is the New Mexico Small Business Development Center (NMSBDC) network. At the national level, the Procurement Technical Assistance Center began with the 1985 federal fiscal year. Since then it has grown to more than ninety regional and statewide programs. All of the PTACs throughout the United States assist businesses in learning how to do business with federal, state, and local governments. The PTACs are expected to make a concerted effort to seek out and assist small business concerns, small disadvantaged business concerns, women-owned small business concerns, HUBZone small business concerns, and service-disabled veteran-owned small business concerns as defined in Part 2 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation. The vision of the NM PTAC is to be the support provider of choice and the leader in economic development throughout New Mexico. The mission of the NM PTAC is to counsel, train and assist New Mexico businesses to pursue government business opportunities, advancing both entrepreneurship and economic growth in New Mexico.
