LARC is a private not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing intellectually and developmentally disabled adults with opportunities to work, live, and participate in their community. Originally formed in 1956, as a school for children diagnosed with mental retardation (The Lansing School of Special Education), LARC has grown to provide day training and work activities to approximately 100 adults with developmental disabilities from across the Chicago Southland. Today, our services include senior programming, educational initiatives, community day services, work opportunities in the community and 24-hour residential opportunities in private housing around the community. LARC's mission is to provide person-centered supports and services that promote quality, dignity and choice and will assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve greater independence in their lives by promoting choice, fostering a sense of pride and empowering them to achieve their dreams. LARC has part-time employment opportunities supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in Lansing, IL. Employees provide support and supervision in a group setting and provide daily living supports and community activities with a person centered approach. Employees utilize agency vehicles and must have a valid drivers' license and vehicle insurance. Additional requirements include a high school diploma or GED, must be 18 years of age or older, and must pass a background check. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus. Shifts are primarily afternoons, midnight's and weekends but some daytime hours are available.
