Smart Delta Resources (SDR) is an international partnership of large companies from the chemical, steel, energy and food industry with the active support of the Province of Zeeland, North Sea Port and NV Economie Impuls Zeeland. SDR is working on cross-border solutions that make the industry in the Scheldt Delta region future-proof and sustainable. This is done with concrete, innovative projects aimed at CO2 reduction, sustainable raw materials and green energy. The collaboration makes a substantial contribution to the European and national climate objectives. The ambition: a competitive and climate neutral industry in the region by 2050. With approximately 11 Mton per year, the region provides approximately 20% of Dutch industrial CO2 emissions. The consumption of 580 kton H2 per year also makes the region the largest hydrogen consumer in the Benelux. This combination offers opportunities for a major emission reduction through large-scale electrification and making hydrogen production more sustainable, via blue to green.
