Thousands of farmers had started giving up agriculture as a source of livelihood in several parts of the country and Odisha because of the damage caused by animals. It had become a big issue and was debated for years inside and outside the state. This is in addition to the loss of employment and livelihood. While number of alternatives are practiced by farmers and government to protect the crops from damage by wild animals, none of these assure 100% success in crop protection. We discuss with 15 Registared FPO and 10 SHG in Odisha affected by wild life (mostly elephants). Aranya Paridhi Team also currently started discussion with migants returning odisha due to COVID-19 situation and highly interested for self employment through agriculture and horticulture farming on their wild life affected land located different remote villages in Odisha.
