Habitat for Humanity of Greater Fort Wayne seeks to put God's love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. Habitat of Greater Fort Wayne is a nonprofit Christian housing ministry uniting volunteers and local investors with hardworking families seeking to achieve the dream of homeownership. Established locally 30 years ago, Habitat has since partnered with more than 244 families to build safe, stable and affordable homes and provide zero-interest mortgages. Homes are sold to qualified applicants through an interest-free 30-year mortgage. Because of volunteer involvement, the cost of a standard three-bedroom home is kept affordable, with affordable monthly mortgage payments including taxes and insurance. The revolving fund created by mortgage payments received allows Habitat to commit 100 percent of individual donations to additional housing opportunities in the community.
