Hoboken Community Center
www.hobokencc.orgThe Hoboken Community Center (HCC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization located in Hoboken, NJ. The building opened its doors in 1927 as the Hoboken-North Hudson YMCA and served the dual purpose of providing housing to low-income men and offering affordable recreational programs for the local community. Due to insufficient funding, the YMCA closed the doors in 2010 to the recreational side of its operations. Today, the HCC manages the residential facility, which was extensively renovated in 2013 and contains three levels of single room occupancy men’s housing – providing affordable housing for 96 single men. The HCC also contains three levels of currently vacant former recreation space totaling approximately 37,500 square feet. The HCC is now focused on the renovation of this space. In 2019, the Hoboken Community Center opened a food pantry (known as the Hoboken Food Pantry) to provide essential needs such as food and personal hygiene supplies not only to its residents, but to anyone else in the community who experiences food insecurity.
