Founded in 1906 and incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1974, VASSP is the statewide advocacy and outreach professional organization for school principals and assistant principals. In addition to our mission statement and vision statement, the VASSP bylaws state that the object of the association shall be educational, charitable, and fraternal, and committed to the improvement of secondary education, i.e. middle, junior high, intermediate, high school, combined, and vocational. VASSP is a unified affiliate of the National Association of Secondary School Principals and offers membership to practicing secondary school administrators. It is governed by a 16-member Board of Directors of which nine directors represent established geographical regions in the state. The mission of the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals, Inc. is to assist school principals and assistant principals in providing leadership to their schools and communities for the purpose of improving the education of Virginia's youth.
