Guerin Woods
www.guerininc.orgProvidence Self Sufficiency Ministries (PSSM) was established in 1994 in a former convent in New Albany, Indiana. PSSM assists children, families and older adults who are in need. In 1998, principals of PSSM approached the Archdiocese of Indianapolis about the possibility of purchasing 12-plus acres of land in Georgetown, Indiana as the location for a campus for Providence House for Children. Guerin Inc. was formed to serve as the holding company of the land and facilities and has become the vessel of PSSM's ministries. Guerin Inc. was established in 1999 to construct facilities for the Providence House for Children's campus in Georgetown, Indiana. An arm of Providence Self Sufficiency Ministries Inc. (PSSM), the Providence House campus includes both the Patchwork House and the Reunification Apartments. This Family Preservation Program (FPP) uses a phase system, which allows families to gradually move from Patchwork House into the Reunification Apartments, and closer to self-sufficiency. Both programs serve families reuniting with their children through the Department of Child Services. In April, 2005, Guerin Inc. opened Guerin Woods— a development for older adults that adjoins the Providence House campus. Today, Guerin Woods includes 22 two-bedroom apartments for individuals and couples age 62 and older, 8 Villas ("small house" dwellings) that provide licensed assisted living, skilled nursing care, rehab-to-home and memory care for frail Elders age 62 and older and a Senior Center open to residents in Floyd and surrounding counties. In 2009, Guerin Inc. built The Meadows of Guerin, Inc. adjacent to Guerin Woods. The Meadows is a HUD 202 grant-funded development serving people age 62 and older and consists of 24 one-bedroom apartments, one two-bedroom apartment and a community center. Developments are funded by grants and donations. Through a management agreement, Guerin Inc. provides facilities and PSSM oversees administration, staffing and programming.
