AZA Battery
www.azabattery.comAZA Battery is an electrically rechargeable zinc-air battery that is cheaper, safer, and greener than lithium or lead acid batteries for many applications. After over a decade of R&D, AZA is currently building pilot production in Belgium. The most significant advantage of AZA is cost—with a bill of materials of less than $15kWh a total projected cost of less than $35/kWh and a manufacturing process far simpler and faster to stand up than lithium battery production. Unlike lead acid and lithium, the AZA Battery is not explosive and operates well in hot environments. The AZA Battery is made without conflict metals. The key input is zinc, which is supported with existing robust supply chains, and is one of the most globally abundant, least toxic, and easiest to recycle industrial materials. Different from other zinc-chemistry batteries, the AZA Battery is built with a pasted zinc electrode. This allows AZA to achieve energy density and a form factor that can work for both stationary storage AND mobility applications. Ideal stationary storage applications include backup storage, on and off grid storage integrated with intermittent renewables, and telecom applications. Ideal mobility applications include electronic busses, rickshaws, scooters and forklifts.
