Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust is a centre of excellence for a range of specialist health care services for women and their families in Birmingham, the West Midlands and across the UK. Services include: • Maternity (pregnancy care) • Gynaecology (disorders and conditions of the female reproductive system) • Fetal Medicine (care for babies inside the womb) • Neonatal Intensive Care (care and support for babies after they are born) • Genetics (inherited disorders and cancer) • Radiology (including X-rays and pregnancy scans) • Specialist Pathology (including screening for various conditions and blood testing) • Fertility Medicine (helping couples to conceive) BWH treats 50,000 patients, carries out more than 3000 operations and more than 8,000 babies are born in our care every year making the Trust on of the largest maternity centres in the UK Our Genetics laboratories test 50,000 genetic samples on average a year making the centre one of the largest in Europe as well as managing more than 12,000 clinical genetic referrals each year. With a multi-million research budget, the Trust’s research has global impact and is the fourth largest acute hospital recruiter for clinical trials and is an international centre for education.
