The average westerner contributes around 10 times this figure. Flying is by no means the only contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, but it does take up a large chunk of that 1200kg annual CO2 budget. Making a raft of changes, including not only how we travel but also changing our attitude towards industry, government, waste, electricity and consumption in general, is a moral imperative for us all.
