Norse Environmental Waste Services (NEWS) is the division of Norse Commercial Services responsible for pioneering and managing sustainable ways to process both commercial and residential waste. NEWS operates a multi-million-pound waste recycling and onward transfer centre which can handle up to 90,000 tonnes of dry recyclable waste a year. Currently the site, utilising innovative technologies, processes all mixed dry recyclables collected by Norfolk’s local authorities and is fed from NEWS-operated waste transfer sites around the region. The plant operates to ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environment Management) and OHSAS 18001 (Health & Safety Management) standards. NEWS also composts an annual 25,000 tonnes of biodegradable organic waste from its 19 Household Waste Recycling Centres and doorstep collections based across East of England. A state-of-the-art composting facility, taking green waste and also commercial catering waste, has been operational since May 2011. NEWS is fully compliant in managing all hazardous waste and WEEE, with services that include recycling disposal, container supply, consignment administration, emergency response and specialist advice.
