My first exposure to private label was during my first marketing position at Melitta North America. I managed the day-to-day operations of private label customers, Loblaw’s (Number one Canadian retailer) and Goya (US distributor of Spanish foods). In addition, I had a major role in the development of a new coffee maker for Kraft/General Foods’ Gevalia coffee club. As a result of the experience, I developed a strong desire to work in private label. Since I saw the need for private label to leverage classical marketing principals, I learned product management and brand management at Kimberly-Clark and Mars Confectionery respectively. My first break into private label arose at SCA Hygiene Products in Germany where I worked on the launch of a new private label category within the business and was successful in applying marketing practices to SCA’s private label customers across Europe to secure long-term contracts. While at SCA, I learned about Daymon Worldwide, the world’s leading private label broker" and developed a strong desire not only to work at Daymon but in Germany due to my family heritage. In early 2007, I achieved my goal to work at Daymon in Germany. I successfully developed private label across several categories at Germany’s 10th largest retailer, Globus. Aside from the private label new product development, I worked with Globus to develop targeted marketing programs and effective merchandising strategies. With my passion for private label and strong entrepreneurial spirit, I decided to use my wealth of experience to launch my private label consulting business over 7 years ago!
