The mission of is to facilitate unique educational opportunities and programs for University Academy students and Alumni. Friends of UA aspires to fund and manage efficient and effective programs to help University Academy students and Alumni succeed in college and life. University Academy is a K–12 college-preparatory charter public school in Kansas City, Missouri which serves approximately 1,000 students. The school’s mission is to prepare students to succeed in an institution of higher education and to be leaders in society. The school’s vision is to be the best K–12 college-preparatory charter public school in the country with an emphasis on college preparation, career development, community service and leadership. Friends of UA identifies high impact programs and educational opportunities to support. For example, donations have been used to pay for scholarships for summer study abroad opportunities with the Experiment in International Living, scholarships for summer wilderness/leadership courses with the National Outdoor Leadership School, and several programs that provide books to students for their home libraries. Friends of UA also supports the Children's Mercy Hospital Clinic at UA and the UMKC Dental clinic at UA. Additionally, Friends of UA operates the Alumni Success Program which supports alumni as they pursue their academic and career goals.
