Family of Friends Mentoring
www.family-of-friends.orgFamily of Friends leverages the power of mentoring relationships in east Multnomah County to support positive self-identity and youth leadership, to give young people a platform to build the futures they want for themselves and their communities. We believe that connecting kids to personalized, long-term social support through mentoring contributes to a thriving community. We believe youth mentoring can bridge the gap between families who need support and families who have extra support to give, so the entire community thrives. Our small but mighty team professionally supports our participants and models the deep connections and healthy relationships we aim to build in our matches. Our organization currently runs two direct-service programs for youth in the east Multnomah County region serving roughly 70 youth and families per year: Our signature Community-Based mentoring program matches youth ages 6-12 with year-long volunteer mentor singles, couples or individuals. It focuses on social and emotional skills including: joy, relationship building, positive self-identity, and goal-setting. Our newly launched Amigas program is an after-school group mentoring model for middle school Latina girls, run through two SUN sites in Gresham Barlow School District. It focuses on positive cultural identity and leadership skills. Please visit our website to learn more about what we do www.family-of-friends.org
