Independent nonprofit based in Burlington, Vermont that engages young people from anywhere and everywhere to write, take photos, make videos and record audio to tell their stories and take creative risks in a respectful community of online writers. Young people, grades 3-12, write and comment on others' work on youngwritersproject.org, submit photos and art, and gain skills with the help of peers, mentors and YWP staff. Words and art are published in a monthly digital magazine, The Voice, in an annual anthology of best work, in weekly newspapers, on public radio, etc. Writers also perform their work at slams and other events.
