National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR), an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Rural Development, is a premier national centre of excellence in rural development and panchayati raj. The Institute build capacities of rural development functionaries, academicians, young students, community-based organisations, elected representatives, financial institutions, and other stakeholders through inter-related activities of training, research & consultancy, academic programmes, technology transfer, etc. 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐬: NIRDPR runs two full-time residential diploma programmes and four distance post graduate diploma programmes with an aim to create a committed and competent cadre of rural development professionals in the country and to address key policy and management issues in rural development. NIRDPR offers a one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development Management (PGDRDM). 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝘼𝙄𝘾𝙏𝙀 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙬𝙤-𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡-𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙋𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝘿𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙢𝙖 𝙞𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩-𝙍𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 (𝙋𝙂𝘿𝙈-𝙍𝙈) 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙢𝙚 in addition to much sought after one-year PGDRDM programme. Since its inception of academic programmes in 2008, about 800 development professionals who have passed out of the Institute have made a substantial contribution by working in flagship programmes of Central and State Governments, CSR foundations, NGOs, International Development Organizations etc. Many have also started social enterprises.
