Attic Symphony
www.robertbusseymusic.comWhen one thinks of the word "symphonic", images of orchestras and large musical ensembles come to mind. In more recent years, through the innovations of such fingerstyle guitarists as Michael Hedges, Alex Degrassi and Doyle Dykes, these fine artists have set a trend for what can be accomplished with two hands and a guitar. They have drawn out the percussive elements as well as combining melodies, basslines and harmony on their acoustic guitars and have gained world class recognition in doing so. On the electric guitar front, legendary guitarist Jeff Beck continues to break ground and astound us with such musical expression, that his guitar playing has transcended all technical ability and theory to the point that his guitar lines take on a vocal like quality. His latest album Emotion and Commotion (up for 5 grammys) pairs him with vocalists on both the rock and opera front to bring us some amazing guitar / vocal duets. Likewise, Pink Floyd guitar virtuoso, David Gilmour has attained similar results in recent years stemming from his 2006 solo album "On An Island". With Attic Symphony, I am endeavoring to combine all of these elements with an orchestrated guitar sound that combines a signature guitar voice over lush guitar soundscapes with the goal of taking the guitar center stage to that spot where the vocal mic is placed and also adequately supported by equally strong guitar instrumentation. My album "Attic Symphony II - Cold, Vast and Severe", has set me on that course.
