Assistance League of Pomona Valley
www.alpv.orgAssistance League of Pomona Valley is a local chapter of National Assistance League®, and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer organization that has been serving the Pomona Valley community since 1946. Our chapter provides the following assistance: • Operation School Bell® provides new clothing to school age children. While the school year looks quite different due to COVID-19 and virtual learning, it is still imperative that ALPV provides clothing to students. School districts are requiring children to be neatly dressed, have their hair brushed and have eaten breakfast before signing into their virtual classroom in order to maintain a sense of routine. Many of these children have less than desirable surroundings, so equipping them with clothing boosts their confidence and increases their participation in virtual learning. Over 1,200 children received socks, underwear, pants, shirts, and jackets in 2019. • Books for Kids provides books to children and since 2013 over 5,500 books have been distributed. • Dental Center provides emergency and maintenance care, including fluoride treatments, x-rays, extractions, and root canals. Over 350 children received treatments in the 2019 school year. ALPV is in the process of expanding dental services to include adults and seniors in 2021. • Assault Survivor Kits® provides new clothing, toiletries, and other items to women and children of assault. Kits are assembled by members of ALPV and distributed by Project Sister.
