Clareto engages health information exchanges (HIEs), healthcare providers, and other data sources – and facilitates the electronic exchange of health information pursuant to HIPAA-compliant authorizations in support of underwriting, claims, and other business processes for the life insurance industry. Clareto operates MedVirginia, an HIE serving participating healthcare providers in the Commonwealth of Virginia and beyond. A member of the Sequoia Project, eHealth Exchange, and Carequality, MedVirginia was the first HIE to connect with the Nationwide Health Information Network, the Social Security Administration’s Health IT initiative for disability determinations, and federal partners including the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
