City of Marine City
www.marinecity-mi.orgMarine City is a charming Michigan town sitting at the confluence of the St. Clair and Belle rivers. Founded by the French and their "Ribbon farms," we are a border city just a short ride across the St. Clair river from Ontario, Canada. Our French heritage is still evident in the names of many people and places here. Marine City's location in southern St. Clair county places us in close proximity to the metropolitan Detroit area, yet far enough away to retain our more rural, small town atmosphere. Our history as a former ship building center of the Great lakes has bestowed on us a rich maritime and architectural heritage still celebrated and enjoyed to this day. Our waterfront location has been preserved for public enjoyment through city land dedicated to riverside public access via many parks and a swimming beach. These venues provide daily ring-side seats to the still bustling activity on our international river. Marine City's historic downtown shopping district has been augmented over the years by commercial and light industrial venues to the west and south, creating a virtual circle of of business activity. A wide range of products and services are provided to both residents and visitors to our Marine City community. Marine City utilizes a City Commission form of government, with operations overseen by a City Manager and various pdepartment heads. Strong community organizations and churches actively participate in and add to the quality of life in Marine City.
