Health Equity Alliance (HEAL)

www.healtc.org

The Health Equity Alliance (HEAL) is focused on ending health, socioeconomic and racial disparities to address disproportionate death rates for mothers and infants in Tarrant County. HEAL, is on a mission to eliminate preventable infant and maternal death by making racial, socioeconomic and health equity a reality for all in Tarrant County. Expert-led, community-focused and equity-driven, HEAL leverages, scientific, evidence-based research, in-house expertise, community organization partnerships and HEAL members to connect mothers and infants to the resources they need to equitably thrive and affect real change. Historically, most of the focus has been on the individual’s role in her own health. However, evidence shows that focusing more on addressing the conditions that drive the inequities rather than trying to “fix women” has the greatest impact on maternal and birth outcomes; and HEAL is ready to lead that change and looking to the community to help make that happen. Join our community HEAL is challenging residents and community organizations to join them in their mission to save lives by eliminating preventable infant and maternal death in Tarrant County. For more information on ways to get involved or get support, please contact Misty Wilder, UNT HSC Healthy Start Director and HEAL Chair at 817.735.2478 or Misty.Wilder@unthsc.edu.
