ERMES IT S.r.l. is an italian innovative Startup funded in 2017 by three young researchers. The goal of the Startup is the realization of an innovative ionizing radiation detector and its sale in the branch of the instrumentation for Radioprotection. Thanks to a state-of-the-art hardware design and specifically developed algorithms, the radiation detector, named RADFinder, is able to provide real-time and remote identification, quantification and localization of ionizing radiation sources in the environment. In addition, an user-friendly software interface for PCs and smartphones will be developed. The aim of this software interface is to let any user - not necessarily an expert - assess the risk due to the radiation field. The forthcoming EU Directive 2013/59/Euratom (that will be mandatory from March2018) implicates a remarkable increase in the number of Radioprotection controls. The effect of the Directive will implicate a significant growth in the demand of Radioprotection instrumentations in all EU countries. Therefore the Startup expects a quick scalability of the RADFinder that wants to be the pivotal instrument for the execution of the controls needed. Know-how, multidisciplinarity and inclination to research and development are the strong points of the Startup that is composed by two experts in Nuclear Imaging, Radioprotection and Dosimetry and an expert in Financial Forecasting and Marketing.
