PDX Jazz - PDX Jazz Festival
www.pdxjazz.comPDX Jazz is a non-profit cultural arts organization dedicated to curating jazz in Portland, Oregon and fostering the growth of musical offerings in the Pacific Northwest. We strive with your contributions and sponsorship to inspire, educate and develop future jazz audiences for generations to come. The PDX Jazz Festival arrives each and every February to recognize Black History Month, and to remind Portlanders and our many out of town guests what a rich and robust Jazz experience we offer. With upwards of 100 paid and ticketed events over 11 days, there are ambitious programs that will warm the heart and swing your soul. As always, we pay homage to living jazz legends and those who came before. Emerging and exploratory musicians and the legacy artists we admire will be on full display in the beautiful city of Portland! Our education programs place emphasis on the appreciation of jazz music from a historic and cultural perspective, addressing three major concerns within our community: 1) the decreased funding for arts education in our public schools, 2) the importance of educating students and adults alike about the influential artistic contributions African-Americans made to American civilization during the 20th Century, and 3) contributing to the success of a vibrant arts scene.
