Software Research Center

www.anderson.edu

We provided software, hardware and consulting services to national companies and organizations, local companies, non-profit groups, special projects, and intra-organizational units. Our executives where faculty members who brought consulting expertise in their disciplines, professional development of staff and practical experience to complement their academic disciplines. Talent development was integral to project acquisition, project execution and daily operations. Executive leadership specified and evaluated quality standards, oversaw or led professional training, instilled and monitored corporate culture, and bridged any remaining gaps with hands-on collaboration. Executive’s where highly experienced in their disciplines, expert trainers, and committed to recruiting and mentoring staff. Cross-functional leaders intentionally mentored across disciplines for group cohesion and the additional professional development value. Talent acquisition and retention across disciplines, experience level, and diverse backgrounds positively impacted university enrollment. The SRC was initially funded by a grant to establish a self-sustaining, independent entity within Anderson University; it was the first of a number of initiatives. The center itself closed in 2017 when the founding director, Sam Blanchard, left the university. Students continue to benefit from computing companies locating on campus. The faculty involved continue rewarding professional career in academics and/or industry.
