Dorset Council delivers local services to people living in Dorset, working in partnership with parish and town councils. You may have heard that local government in Dorset went through some big changes. Since 1 April 2019 the county's previous nine councils were replaced by two entirely new organisations: - Dorset Council, and - Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council The new Dorset Council replaces the existing district and borough councils (East Dorset, North Dorset, Purbeck, West Dorset, Weymouth and Portland) and Dorset County Council, all of which no longer exist.
