LGBTQ+ Domers
www.lgbtqdomers.comLGBTQ+ Domers tells the fascinating story of progress and setbacks for the LGBTQ+ community at Notre Dame. From informal gatherings of LGBTQ+ in South Dining hall to a report to the Board of Trustees in the 1990s expressing the need for an LGBTQ+ organization of campus, the 4 to 5 movement in the early 2010s (which created the first recognized LGBTQ+ student organization on campus), the End Hate @ND campaign, and the adding of gender identity into the Discriminatory Harassment Policy in 2020 (but no change on the Non Discrimination Clause) to the continued struggle for LGBTQ+ acceptance at Notre Dame, we have an incredible story to tell. A story of push back by the administration, organizing around issues, and working to make our community more accepting of those in the LGBTQ+ community. The book will tell the stories of Notre Dame alumni, faculty, staff, and current students from their past 50+ years and the slow movement towards a more accepting campus. With the hope this book becomes a record keeping of history, a light of hope for future progress, and an idea of where we need to go from here. We want to hear your stories of what it was (and is!) like to go to Notre Dame as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. We want all types of stories from every corner of the Notre Dame campus and from every section of the vast LGBTQ+ community.
