Founded in 1932 as the national development agency for the folk arts, EFDSS promotes learning and participation, performance, artists’ development and advocacy. EFDSS manages the acclaimed National Youth Folk Ensemble; works with schools, colleges, community groups and cultural organisations across England; and runs classes, courses, projects and events for most ages and levels of experience. EFDSS is custodian of the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library (VWML), England’s national folk music and dance archive, an essential resource for anybody interested in the folk arts.
