The Tumwater Canyon is a river canyon in the state of Washington near where Ben Warren spent his childhood. In addition to its calm swimming holes and beautiful scenery, the Tumwater Canyon is famous for its Class V Rapids. The American Whitewater Association defines Class V rapids as “Extremely long, obstructed, or very violent rapids which expose a paddler to added risk. Drops may contain large, unavoidable waves and holes… Rapids may continue for long distances between pools, demanding a high level of fitness…Proper equipment, extensive experience, and practiced rescue skills are essential..” They are the type of experience that is dangerous to take on alone, but an experienced guide can take you through the dangers to places most people only dream of seeing.
