MEXAS
www.mexas.coMEXAS is a fashion brand specialized on HUARACHES - an indigenous Mexican shoe with more than 500 years of history - made in a 100% artisanal way in the state of Michoacán. The hands that make our huaraches are the heart and soul of MEXAS. Most of these artisans learned how to make huaraches from a very young age, and have been in the trade for more than 30 years. It takes approximately 2 hours to finish a pair of MEXAS, depending on the type of weaving, this process is completely handmade, therefore, each artisan can only craft up to 3 to 4 pairs every day. Our weaving artisans are mostly mothers who are allowed to work from their homes. This allows them to follow their profession and to make a living while caring for their children. Since the very beginning, we had very clear that this project had to have a positive impact, a SOCIAL PROJECT. We want to do things well, be totally transparent by building a brand with responsible production, contributing to the development of the most vulnerable communities, such as the State of Michoacán, in Mexico. That is why, with each order we'll donate part of the benefit to 'Mujeres Aliadas', a Mexican non-profit organization working to promote sexual and reproductive rights and provide sexual and reproductive healthcare to women and adolescents, based on the model of Professional Midwifery with a holistic approach, considering women as key agents in their decision-making process. #BIENMEXAS
