City Insight (Pty) Ltd was established by Ms. Sue Bannister and Dr. Michael Sutcliffe in September 2012 to provide insight, information and advice on city management and development issues Collectively, both founding partners have over 50 years experience in a variety of sectors including academia, civil society, non-governmental organizations, all spheres of government (local, provincial and national), and as consultants. City Insights insight and advice on city development is founded on a thorough understanding and working knowledge of local government and development. City Insight understands the theory, the politics and – most importantly - the practice of how cities work - and don’t work. City Insight is also founded on the recognition that although a lot of information on cities exists, there is a need to tame and shape that information into a format that is relevant, usable and understandable. Implementing social and economic transformation within cities requires trained and well-informed management. City Insight can play a key role in this regard through developing training programmes based on real issues and actual case studies and by working to ensure that knowledge and data are effectively managed to achieve growth and development. Good cities also require a private sector that works actively to address city developmental objectives. City Insight works within that interface to ensure that cities and their private sectors grow organically.
