Bring Me a Book
www.bringmeabook.orgBring Me A Book (BMAB) is an award-winning, early literacy, non-profit organization that was founded to provide equitable access to quality literacy resources to underserved children in an effort to prevent significant delays in reading skills acquisition that lead to future academic setback. Since it's founding in 1997, BMAB provides quality children's literature; encourages a daily ritual of reading at school, after school, and in the home; fosters an early love of reading and learning; prepares children for school success; enables English language development; and catalyzes the attainment of family literacy. BMAB's programming is built upon the belief that if families and teachers understand the lasting benefits and value of reading to children from birth, supplemented with quality literature in the home and at school, children will be better prepared to succeed in school and in life. BMAB has provided services to over 500,000 children, ages 0-8, and their parents in over 1,800 state-funded preschools, Head Starts, early Head Starts, elementary schools (Pre K-3rd grade), childcare centers and community centers across California. Bring Me A Book serves as a catalyst for community literacy. We HELP CHILDREN GROW A READING HABIT, by providing books, choice, and family engagement—with sustained support from the public library. When we help all children thrive through the joy and power of reading, we leverage literacy to create a more humane and hopeful world for us all.
