HISTORY Cometa was founded in Milan (Italy) in 2001 by a design­ers team with a long software/firmware/hardware expe­ri­ence, made in med­ical instru­ments design, extend­ing from low level bio­log­i­cal sig­nal acqui­si­tion, data elab­o­ra­tion and representation. After sev­eral con­sul­tan­cies for the most promi­nent com­pa­nies in the mar­ket, the first autonomous project, a com­pletely wire­less EMG sys­tem, was devel­oped and patented in 2004. Sev­eral inno­v­a­tive solu­tions have been applied to this electromyograph sys­tem; start­ing from the most vis­i­ble ones, the absence of the ref­er­ence elec­trode, the minia­tur­iza­tion and auton­omy of the elec­trodes, to sev­eral oth­ers tech­ni­cal solu­tions that lead to an unmatched clean and read­able out­put EMG trace. The prod­uct was licensed to a third com­pany that sold hun­dreds of units world­wide under the brand name “ZeroWire”. At the end of 2010, the licens­ing agree­ment expired and Cometa began sell­ing the renewed sys­tem directly, under the “Wave Wire­less EMG” brand name. Even though the main com­pany activ­ity is at present of design­ing, pro­duc­ing and ser­vic­ing EMG and IMU wire­less sys­tems, other projects in the elec­tronic and med­ical fields have been suc­cess­fully car­ried out since Cometa creation: High speed video cam­eras and dig­i­tal video proces­sors for motion analy­sis applications.
