IDS is a nonprofit, nonpolitical, secular, volunteer organization supporting economic and social development in India. Since 1974, IDS has been a catalyst that assisted more than 150 projects in 22 states with the support of over two million dollars in financial contributions. IDS aims to empower vulnerable communities in India by offering programs in: • Education/Training • Healthcare • Micro Finance/Income Generation • Empowerment • Disaster Mitigation/Relief IDS targets communities throughout rural/tribal India, focusing heavily on backward districts. In the next three years, IDS will primarily concentrate its efforts in the states of: Bihar, Chattisgarh, Jharkand, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, and Uttar Pradesh.
