Looking around our STEM class rooms every year we noticed a lack of both ethnic and socioeconomic diversity. We decided to change that, so we created Code Equal in 2017. Code Equal is a nonprofit that provides free CS courses, mentors, workshops, hackathons, and the tools self-identifying girls and underrepresented minorities need to enter CS fields with the confidence and knowledge to succeed.
