California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS), is the only recognized California state component society of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). CALAOMS was founded in the mid-1980s as a representing body for both the Northern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (NCSOMS) and the Southern California Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (SCSOMS). In the late 1990s the three organizations unified into the sole entity of the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS).
