Mineral Industry and Territorial Dynamics Chair
www.industrie-minerale-territoires.frIn a global context of increasing demand for increasingly diversified mineral resources, the mineral industry raises crucial issues for contemporary societies. These challenges are amplified by geopolitical tensions, the new needs linked to the energy and digital transition and by the unavoidable expectations of civil society, which wishes to be involved in the decision-making processes concerning the exploitation of underground resources. Since 2016, four prestigious Engineering Schools, MINES ParisTech , Mines Nancy, IMT Mines Alès and the École nationale supérieure de Géologie have joined forces to strengthen French academic capacity in the analysis of issues related to the extractive sector. By creating in June 2016, the “Mine & Society” Network of Excellence in connection with the industrial world, public authorities and civil society, the objectives were to pool and develop multidisciplinary skills in Training and Research. To go further in the development of a new methodological corpus integrating the human and social sciences with fundamental scientific and technical disciplines, the REx "Mine & society" has become a Training and Research Chair entitled: Mineral Industry & Territories dynamic Chair. This Chair, which wants to be upstream of operational issues, will provide the analytical tools to understand the changes in relations between the various stakeholders in the mining system, but also the technological transformations of the mineral industry (automation, mine 4.0, etc.). ). In support of research, the chair offers different levels of training (initial, professional training, training of trainers, etc.) to strengthen knowledge, skills and know-how. Finally, the chair will disseminate information to the general public to bring innovations to the attention of the greatest number.
