Engaging Young Leaders on Aged Care & Community Boards

www.youngleadersonboards.com.au

The Engaging Young Leaders on Aged Care and Community Boards Program develops young leaders (under 40 years) and creates opportunities for them to succeed on Boards of Governance in the aged care and community sector. Our mission is to create a world class aged care and community sector underpinned by strong Board governance and leadership which is young (includes Directors under 40 years of age), diverse, intergenerational, collective and successive. Since 2013, the signature Emerging Leaders Governance Program (ELGP) accepts 20 young leaders onto its competitive program each year. Intensive leadership training, structured events, and learning and development opportunities sponsored by Community Partners (partnering organisations) and an Alumni Network, equip Program graduates with the knowledge, experience, networks and support to accept their first Board position or Board Traineeship. As well as Board success, the Program is creating new opportunities for young people to volunteer their professional skills in the community sector and is enhancing collective governance, leadership and entrepreneurialism. The Program is also generating an extensive collection of resources and research on leadership and governance, available in the Resource Toolkit. The Program is an initiative of Southcare Inc and supported by over 41 community, aged care, private and government organisations (Community Partners). Southcare manages the Emerging Leaders Governance Program, events and all financial and administration business associated with the Program.
