IRMA- Insurance and Risk Management Academy- is brought to you by a partnership from Ohio Dominican University, Encova Insurance, and Secured Advantage. The purpose of the program is to empower students with the skills and knowledge they need to take full advantage of the opportunities that are in the insurance and risk management industry. There is a unique component to IRMA in that students are getting a firsthand experience of what the field looks like post-graduation. By creating the right type of exposure to the industry via servicing clients for Encova through the Client Care Center, it guarantees a healthy and consistent flow of qualified candidates to the Insurance field. This opportunity will ensure the students graduating from our program are a class above the other candidates seeking similar type positions. The goal is to have the same group from their freshman year through their graduation. As part of growth for the candidate in IRMA, the duties will evolve as they progress through their schooling. The tasks assigned to a senior in the program are completely different than those assigned to a freshman. The program manager will closely monitor their development and provide critical career readiness skills and coaching which will be critical to a successful path in the insurance industry. We will be working towards internship positions outside the IRMA program during school breaks. These internship opportunities will be made possible from the different partners that we work with- carriers, agencies, etc. This is an additional opportunity for growth outside the IRMA environment for the candidates picked for the program. Students will be provided the avenue and resources to obtain industry required licenses to ensure they have all the resources needed to succeed. The purpose is to guarantee a healthy, consistent flow of exceptional candidates for the industry coming out of this program with an emphasis on equal opportunity for all candidates.
