Update June 2021. The objectives of RAISE Wales CIC are now being incubated from within a commercial company www.gatehouse-ics.com which has developed an entry level and internship program in this sector. As such, from August 2021 it is intended that RAISE CIC as a legal entity will cease to exist. It is possible in due course that the endeavour will be renamed, though many of the aspirations of RAISE are continuing in this different setting. The Health Innovation and Life Sciences industry is thriving in South Wales and along with it, associated consultancy services. However, school experience age children, through to school leavers and further education students in the South Wales valleys have little awareness or access to these careers and study paths. RAISE was set up to raise awareness, aspirations and opportunities for school leavers in South Wales regarding this industry. RAISE has received two grants which were aimed at 1) feasibility /scoping phase undertaking a gap analysis to discover other programmes/stakeholders with similar aims and ensure that RAISE supplements rather than overlaps with these 2) equipping the leaders of RAISE to manage a social enterprise from a board/compliance and organisational mentoring perspective. Both grant programmes have completed and this led to the change in structure noted at the top of this page.
