Pink Bandana
www.pinkbandana.orgWhile uncommon, breast cancer does affect women under the age of 40 and there is little communication and educational material for these women. Breast cancer is dramatic for any woman, but younger women face a variety of different challenges. They are often just starting their life, and facing issues such as mastectomies or financial burdens can be overwhelming. These issues cause added stress to a young woman’s life when she should be living her life to the fullest. It’s our goal to help them handle some of the burdens, so they can recover and move on with their lives. Pink Bandana historically has raised funds through signature events such as the Beat Breast Cancer Mud Volleyball Tournament. The annual tournament attracts roughly 3,000 attendees and registers 256 teams for a day of mud volleyball. The funds raised at that tournament alone helps us donate two $10,000 gifts to two families battling breast cancer and fund a $4,000 scholarship to a graduating high school student. Along with the mud volleyball a golf scramble was started to branch out and reach another type of donor. Now we are focused on building our fundraising efforts and donor base so that we can help more families and build a support system through our website and other communications that are focused on the specific hurdles women 40 and under face.
