The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter is a Roman Catholic diocese founded in 2012 to provide a path for groups of Anglicans to become fully Roman Catholic while retaining elements of their worship traditions and spiritual heritage in full communion with the Catholic Church. The Ordinariate serves Roman Catholics across the United States and Canada through its evangelizing mission, reverence and beauty of worship, sacred music, and study of sacred Scripture. Our mission is particularly experienced in our celebration of liturgy, which features Anglican traditions of worship while conforming to Catholic doctrinal, sacramental and liturgical standards. Through Divine Worship: The Missal, we share our distinctive commitment to praising God in the eloquence of the Anglican liturgical patrimony and Prayer Book English. Members of the Ordinariate are led by Bishop Steven J. Lopes, the first bishop of the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter. Based in Houston, Texas, it is the first diocese of its kind in North America with more than 40 parishes and communities.
