European Spatial Biology Center
www.esbc.scienceWe do not understand biology enough. Although we have made significant progress in understanding how the biological systems function, we still lack the understanding of how, when, and importantly where key biological events take place and how those events go awry during disease. It is not a hidden fact that we still do not have cures for devastating diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer's, or Parkinson's disease. We need to understand biology at three levels with the highest granularity - molecules, structure, and function. And we need to understand the spatial context of those. Spatial biology - a suite of various technologies - allows us to pinpoint which genes, proteins, metabolites, and other analytes are expressed where. Spatial biology is the next frontier in life sciences and beyond. Spatial biology reveals the precise cellular architecture of tissues and organs, how cells communicate and cooperate to execute tissue functions, as well as organ development itself. Furthermore, it allows the interrogation of cells in their native tissue context to disclose important processes in disease, including perturbations in cell-cell interactions. The European Spatial Biology Center (ESBC NV) brings scale to the various spatial biology technologies that are mature to solve the biggest problems facing biology and medicine. ESBC works with its academic and pharma customers to undertake large-scale spatial biology projects - e.g. metascience, tissue atlasing, pharma studies, new model species. ESBC provides services from sample preparation to performing spatial biology experiments. ESBC does not stop there. We help our customers to go from the large spatial biology datasets to novel insights using advanced data analytics solutions. ESBC also endeavours to develop and scale some of the new spatial biology technologies that are on the anvil. Although based in Leuven (Belgium), ESBC caters to the global scientific audience. We look forward to working with you
