K.I.D.S.S. for Kids, Inc. (Kindness Is Doing Something Special for Kids) is an all-volunteer, non-profit fundraising auxiliary of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Founded in 1991, K.I.D.S.S. for Kids was has become one of the largest and fastest-growing auxiliaries at the hospital. All fundraising activities benefit the hospitals’ Family Support Services programs, which focus on the emotional well being of the patients and their families. Family Services programs provide enriching opportunities for therapeutic play and socialization to children facing serious illnesses, introduce valuable educational support for hospitalized patients, offer emotional and spiritual assistance to the families of critically ill and dying children and do much more to alleviate suffering and accelerate healing. Most of these essential programs are not reimbursed by insurance. Our support enables the dedicated professionals of Family Services to meet - and in many cases exceed - the needs of children and their families. K.I.D.S.S. for Kids' largest annual event is the Step-Up for Kids which takes place on the last Sunday in January.
