Rift Valley Energy (RVE) is a renewable energy infrastructure project development company, dedicated to develop, own and operate relevant projects in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. RVE is a majority owned subsidiary of Rift Valley Corporation (RVC, one of the largest agri-business groups in Southern Africa) and currently has 3 operating hydro- and wind power-stations with 2 rural networks connected, that supply Tanesco (the national utility), the local tea industry, as well as the rural communities (with about 100k people living in our project areas) with green, grid quality power. Further RVE has 3 more small hydro projects, with a total capacity of about 8.5 MW under development, all of which are expected to become operational by 2022. As the first owner/operator of a commercially operated private hydro plant in Tanzania and holder of the first private distribution license, RVE offers high-class electricity services, under its own “MWENGA POWER” Service brand.
